The best Davis weather station on the market currently is the Davis Instruments 6250 Vantage Vue Wireless Weather Station.  This station is one of their most affordable models, and yet has higher rating than most any other weather station.  The gauges and sensors appear to be first rate and work flawlessly.  Many reviewers find the 2 ½ second refresh time most impressive, coming as close as possible to giving real time data.

#2 Best - Vantage Pro2

Next in line for Davis is the Davis Instruments Vantage Pro2 Weather Station (Wireless).   This station is a little more expensive than the 6250.  It comes with a radiation shield for protecting the electronic sensors from the sun.  It also features a solar powered sensor suite.  Reviews indicate that this product lasts a long time, with commenters indicating stations purchased as long as three years ago are still working wonderfully.  The sensors can fail on occasion, however, and are expensive to replace.  The outdoor temperature/humidity sensor can cost as much as $125 (approximately) to replace.

#3 Best - Vantage Pro2 Plus

Another excellent Davis product is the Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus w/ UV & Solar Radiation Sensors.  This is at the top of the Davis line, and is likewise one of their more expensive products.  Optional wireless repeaters can be used to extend the transmission range up to 1.7 miles, making it an interesting choice for those in rural areas.  One reviewer expressed some concern that this system might not be ideal for extremely cold climates, reporting that his system stopped reporting temperatures at -39.3 F in an area where winter temperatures below -40 F are common.  This reviewer also noticed online that other stations of the same type were stuck at -39.3 F as well.
